It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful and loving mother, Katherine Bennett Douglas on December 1, 2016. It gives us peace to know she is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  It also gives us tremendous joy to know she has been reunited with her husband.

Born July 17, 1930 in Hogansville, Georgia, Katherine was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bass Bennett.  She moved to Winnsboro after high school and worked at Uniroyal.  She later met her husband and they were happily married 63 years.  She also worked at Manhattan Shirt Company as well as Bank of Fairfield.  She brought so much joy to our family.  She was a good athlete as witnessed by her basketball skills at Hogansville High School and playing horse in the driveway with the kids and grandkids, beating them on numerous occasions.

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Betty Canady of Newnan, GA; daughter Kathy Howe (Glenn) of Jacksonville, FL; son Carl M. Douglas, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son James Douglas (Ann) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Carol Douglas of James Island, SC; Michael Douglas (Leslie) of Harpers Ferry, W. VA; Ryan Howe (Becky) of Chattanooga, TN; Beth Joseph (Josh) of Greenville, SC; Luke Douglas of Greenville, SC; and great grandchildren Hayden Howe, Addison and Caroline Douglas.

Katherine joins her husband Carl, sisters Jewel and Clestell; brothers Clifford and Donald in eternal rest.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on December 10, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro, SC.  Inurnment will follow in the Methodist Church Cemetery.  A reception will be held after the inurnment in the church fellowship hall.

We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the caregivers during her illness and time of need.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 109 West College Street in Winnsboro, SC 29180.
