Anne Shaw Bailey, 76, passed away quietly at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital on September 1, 2017. Born in Gastonia, N.C. on May 26, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Cole L Shaw, Sr. and the late Margie Mattox Shaw. She met and married the love of her life, James Russell Bailey on October 9, 1964.
She lived a life of love that she shared with so many, as evidenced by her many friends. She was a Nannie to many children that she cared for in her home. She never met a stranger and shared her joy of life with people from Dr. Jessie Blease Floyd’s office, to Winnsboro Builders, and Independent Body and Muffler!
She was a devoted mom to her two children: Margaret B. Johnson (Ken), and Robert Lane Bailey (Creighton), and the best Nannie in the world to Dustin (Amanda), Dylan, Zach (Emma), Bailey (Greg), Rebecca, Grayson (Justin), and Rachel; and two great-grandchildren and one on the way, James, Harper, and Penelope.
In addition, she is survived by sisters, Dorothy S. Porter, Callie S. Bell (Billy), Patsy S. Caldwell (Hugh), and brother Cole Shaw (Susan). She was predeceased by her sister Cindy S. Newton and a brother, James (Buddy) Shaw.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 3, 2017, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 650 Ninth Street, Winnsboro, SC, at 2 p.m. Services will be conducted by Reverend Harry Varn and Reverend Julie Belman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
