While it is indeed sad that you are mourning the loss of your dear James, it saddens God more. In the days ahead, you will continue to reflect on seemingly small, yet precious memories. This is only natural when we experience the loss of someone loved. However, be comforted in knowing that just as you have memories, almighty God remembers too. The difference is, God can and will restore perfect life to those in His memory as shown in the video link below. In the meantime, God warmly invites you to trust in Him for comfort (2 Cor. 1:3,4). Please accept my condolences during this time of distress.

I wanted to reach out to you during this sad time to offer my condolences. While nothing will completely take away your grief, by meditating on God's promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. I have found the scripture at Isaiah 25:8 to be especially comforting. Here it promises that God "will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."

Thank you both. I had intended to look for your contact information to let you know. He went out just as he wanted to, without pain and lingering. He and I spoke, thinking he was in the hospital for tweaking the lasix to help with his heart congestion, planning to get out to go dancing the next day and talking about what he was planning to put into his garden. As he spoke with the nurse about his gardening two hours later, he was stricken in speech with a massive stroke. We can only celebrate his wonderful life of giving of himself, caring for others, and loving life as a new horizon to explore each day. Big shoes to follow in!

Our deepest sympathy to the Lyles family. We fondly recall our many trips to Winnsboro Builders as we were constructing our Lake Wateree home in 1982. Brother was always so kind and helpful to us. He also played tennis with our son Jerry and was able to give him tips to improve his game. He was a good man and I know you will miss him.

A fine neighbor, friend and role model for me and so many others. He truly lived every bit of his life to the fullest—and even though that's a comforting thought, it doesn't keep us from missing his presence in the physical world.

Peace to the hearts of the family now and in the days ahead. Love to each and all of you.

Brother was a friend to all. I first met him when he returned from WWII. He was riding his horse on his dads land. As he rode away from me he stuck a thorn in his knee and had to have surgery. When I became of age I joined the National Guard and he was my Company commander. A great guy.
