Elise Heustess Williams

Elise Heustess Williams, widow of A. Grady Williams, died on December 2, 2016

 following years of declining health due to a stroke.  Born in 1921 in Winnsboro, S.C.,            

she was the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph Alexander Heustess and Elise Coward Heustess.

In 1938, Elise graduated with honors from Mount Zion Institute and later attended the University of South Carolina.  For thirty years she was an employee of the Bank of Fairfield and served as an Assistant Cashier, and was head teller when she retired in June 1973.  During her working years, she served as treasurer of the Fairfield County Chapter of the American Heart Association for more than ten years, later holding the same position with the American Cancer Society for five years.

She was a lifelong member of first United Methodist Church, Winnsboro, S.C., the United Methodist Women, and was active in the Madeline Jennings Circle.  She held many offices in the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #16, and was a diligent member and promoter of its patriotic causes.

Surviving her is a daughter, Josie Elise Williams of Blackstock, S.C.; and a son, Aubrey Grady Williams, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Glenn Springs, S.C. and grandchildren Lisa (Scott) Bourcier of Bedford, N.H., and Trey Williams (Devin) of Columbus, N.C., Edward (Jennifer) Eubanks of Moore, S.C., and Morris (Stephanie) Eubanks of Glenn Springs, S.C.  Also surviving, is one sister-in-law, Grace W. Proctor, and many loving great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by sisters Elizabeth H. Aiken and Loretta H. Beach, brothers Joseph

Alexander Heustess, Jr., William Faison Heustess, and John Coward Heustess, and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth W. Curlee.

Private services were held on Sunday, December 4, 2016. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 109 College Street, Winnsboro, S.C.  29180.
