Funeral services for Richard E. Boykin, Sr., 61, will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, September 18, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints conducted by Bishop Rob Christensen of the Ridgeway Ward. The family will greet friends in the Relief Society Room one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Saturday evening, September 17, 2016 at Pope Funeral Home.
Mr. Boykin entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Born in Winnsboro on June 2, 1955, he was the son of the late Ollie and Vermell Myers Boykin.
Mr. Boykin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Vanessa Goff Boykin; son, David Scott Boykin; two daughters, Cynthia B. Faulkenberry (Kevin), and Melissa B. Scott (Dennis); two brothers, Joe and Ray Boykin; sister, Gayle B, Mogridge; 11 grandchildren, Derrick, Ashleigh, Ryan, Tyler, Kadee, Chandler, Joshua, Preston, Elijah, Grace, and Savannah; and two great grandchildren, Cole and Roselynn.
In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by a son, Richard E. Boykin, Jr., and brother, Vernon Boykin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Richard’s memory to the South Carolina Kidney Foundation, 508 Hampton Street, Suite 200, Columbia SC 29201.
