Donald Wesley Greer Jr, 76, formerly of Winnsboro, died peacefully Thursday, June 30th at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was the son of the late Ethel Meng and Donald Wesley Greer Sr. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Savanna Bundy.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 o’clock Tuesday, July 5th, 2016 at Bethel A.R.P. Cemetery in Winnsboro by Dr. Reverend Clyde McCants and Rev. Jimmy Burroughs.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:30 – 2p.m.

 Mr. Greer graduated from Newberry College with a B.A. in History/Political Science. He worked over 20 years with SCE&G as a Materials Specialist and later worked for Sunset Beach Code Enforcement and the SC Department of Corrections.

Donald, also known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren is loved very much and will be deeply missed.  He will be remembered for his mild-tempered ways.  He was a kind man with a gentle spirit and will be forever missed.

 Surviving are: His son, Bryan Greer(Shantay)of York, S.C., his daughters, Nancy Bundy(Joseph) of Wake Forest, and Amy Smith of Lexington, 9 grandchildren: Kayla Treece, Payton and Karson Greer, Chelsea Davis, Brandy and Sommer Bundy, Jacob, Luke and Ryan Smith, and one great-grandchild, Tanner Treece.

David Brown, Weldon Bonds, Johnny Robinson, Furman White, and Charles Turner will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
