Billy was born April 16, 1936 to William and Annie Timms of Winnsboro, SC. He grew up on his parents’ dairy farm in Winnsboro. Billy graduated High School in 1955 from Mt Zion. He joined the Air National Guard in 1953, where he served 12 years, and spent 15 months overseas in Spain. He married his wife, Brenda, December 4 of 1957. They had 2 children, Timmy and Renee. They had 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Billy was a jack of all trades. He was a volunteer fire fighter for many years and helped build the Community Fire Department. His most favorite job was as a security officer at the schools. He loved all the children and teachers and they loved him. He retired from Fairfield County school but didn’t stop there as he became a security officer at Richland 2, directing traffic for years until he retired 2 years ago. Billy’s loves were his family, his farm and traveling. He spent summers traveling with the grandchildren. To know him was to love him. He was sunshine on a cloudy day, always a jokester and never met a stranger.
The family would like to thank MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Northeast and Heart of Hospice for taking such great care of him during his last days with us.
