Robert Hamilton "Sonny" Bigham, Sr.

Robert Hamilton “Sonny” Bigham, Sr. passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021.  Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Robert Ernest and Ada Morrison Bigham. 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Long Bigham; son, Reid Eric Bigham; daughter, Julie Ida-Catherine Fischesser (Christopher “Chip”); three grandchildren, April Kinard, Madeline Fischesser, Henry Fischesser; and one great grandchild, Rhett Kinard.    

In addition to his parents, Robert is predeceased by a son, Rev. Robert H. “Bob” Bigham, Jr., and sister, Jewel Bigham. 

'Sonny' graduated from Chester H.S. and Clemson University where he received his B.S. in Industrial Management.  He retired from Springs Industries and Essex cable wire.  He loved his church and served as Superintendent, teacher, and deacon for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock PM Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Cool Branch Baptist Church, 10726 State Highway 215 N. Blair, SC 29015 conducted by Rev. John Epps.  The family will receive friends starting at 2:30 in the church.  Burial will follow the service in Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery which is located on Pearson Road in Blair.  For everyone’s health and safety, social distancing is encouraged and per the family’s request, masks are required. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cool Branch Baptist Church, 10726 State Highway 215 N. Blair, SC 29015 or to Rock Creek Cemetery Fund, 13615 Newberry Road, Blair, SC 29015.
