Mitzie Knight Renwick, wife of Charles Rabb Renwick passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at home. Born September 20, 1966, in Winnsboro, SC, to William Marcus and Betty Lyles Knight, she graduated from Winnsboro High School and Winthrop College with a BA in English. Mrs. Renwick attended Columbia College where she earned a masters in English with Emphasis in Writing. She taught 7th and 8th grade language arts at Fairfield Middle School for 13 years and 9-12th grades for 15 years at Great Falls High School where she also served as chairperson for the English Department, Senior Beta Club Advisor, Advisor for school daily broadcast program, and senior project director.
Mrs. Renwick retired from teaching in 2016 and worked for two years as the Development Coordinator for Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services, a non-profit in Columbia, SC, that raises and trains service dogs. Mitzie and Charles served as volunteer fosters for PAALS service dog candidates as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, one son Mac (Sara), sister Tricia Drake (Bob), brothers and sisters in laws Johnny Renwick (Pam), Susan Odum (Joe), six nephews and one grandnephew.
The family would like to thank Linda Pullen, Polly Phillips, Martha Renwick, Dr. Asim Amin, Dr. Beth Susi, Marina Kanos, and the staff at Agape Hospice for the loving care and support she received.
A private family service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020. This service will be live streamed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to PAALS (Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services) 221 North Grampian Hills Rd, Columbia SC 29223.
