Mitzi Underwood Davenport

Mitzi Underwood Davenport, 80, of Winnsboro passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020.  Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy Underwood. 
 
Mitzi was employed at Manhattan for over twenty years before retiring. She then joined the Richard Winn family where she found joy daily in caring for children at the daycare. Mitzi was an active member of Winnsboro First Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed spending time in Saluda with her sister. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ellis Davenport. After 46 years of marriage we know their reunion in heaven was joyful. If you knew her, you knew that her family was the most important thing in her life. She loved spending time with her son and three grandchildren and was the center of their world. 
 
She is survived by her son, Brian Davenport; sister, Deanie Davenport; and three grandchildren, Justin Davenport, Brianna Davenport, and Gracie Gaddy. 
 
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellis Davenport, Mitzi is predeceased by son, Richard Davenport, and sister, Francis Kennedy. 
 
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock AM Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Winnsboro First Church of the Nazarene conducted by Reverend Harry Varn.  Burial will follow in Fairfield Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends after the service by the graveside.  Social distancing guidelines will be implemented, and masks are required. 
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mitzi’s memory to Winnsboro First Church of the Nazarene, 650 Ninth Street, Winnsboro SC 29180.
