Kenneth Lee Boone

Kenneth Lee Boone, 83, passed away early Friday morning, September 2, 2022, at his residence, following a short illness.  Born May 29, 1939, in Danville, VA, he was the son of the late Baxter and Allie Mae Smith Boone.

 Ken never met a stranger, he always liked to talk about fishing and cooking.  His family referred to him as The KING Fisher of the River, meaning Lake Wateree.  In the late 50s Ken was a Golden Glove boxer, in the 60s a Ping Pong champion, and excelled in everything he pursued.  He was a long-time business owner of several retail furniture stores in Kannapolis, NC and most recently co-owner of Colonel Creek Market, Ridgeway, SC. 

 In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Susan B. Keating; son-in-law, Bud Wade; grandson, Brandon B. Williams; great grandson, Chevy J. Petrea; nephew, Britt Bergman. 

Family members left to cherish his memory include Robert K. Boone (Sue), Jerilyn "Tink" Wade, Paul A. Boone (Betsy); sister, Audine Bergman (Don), grandchildren; Jamie D. Williams (Christie), Bobbi I. Boone, Kenneth R. Keating (Bethany), Kristina K. Petrea (James), great grandchildren: Harlan, Salem, Makayla, and Layla; cousins, Dayle and Donnell Humphries, who were like a sister and brother to him; and a special friend, Lee Cathcart.

 A service to honor Ken's life will be held at Stephen Greene Baptist Church at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022.  A reception will be held immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Awana of Stephen Greene, 500 7th St., Winnsboro, SC  29180.
