James Robert Chandler

James Robert Chandler, 81, of Winnsboro passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.  Born in Clinton, SC, he was the son of the late Henry Grady and Brunelle Horton Chandler, Sr. 

He graduated from Clinton High School in 1958 and joined the United State Army in which he spent three years.  Jim received his associates degree from Spartanburg Junior College and his bachelor’s degree in Math from Limestone College.  He went on to teach school for 13 years before joining his wife’s family business for over 20 years.

Jim is survived by his wife of 39 years, Peni Miller Chandler; daughter, Laura E. Wilkins (Robert); four grandchildren, Tiffanie Knott, Jeremiah Wilkins, Micah Wilkins, and McKenzie Wilkins; and one great grandchild, Righley Engelhardt. 

In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his brother, HG Chandler, Jr. 

A graveside inurnment with military honors will be held at 11 o’clock AM Friday, March 4, 2022, at Sion Presbyterian Church Cemetery conducted by Reverend Rebekah Carpenter. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ridgeway VFW Post 8346, 74 Veterans Dr., Ridgeway, SC 29130.
