Elinor “Skeet” Wylie Clarkson passed away on Sunday, December 6th, 2020. Born January 29th, 1953 in Winnsboro, she was the daughter of the late William Lindsay Wylie and Elinor “Bob” Ragsdale Wylie.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and an alumna of Winnsboro High School and Columbia College. She received her juris doctor from University of South Carolina School of Law and a Masters of Education in Divergent Learning from Columbia College. Mrs. Clarkson was President of the Student Body at Winnsboro High School, President of the Student Body and “Most Womanly” at Columbia College, practiced law for over 25 years, and taught middle school English. Mrs. Clarkson was also a star on the basketball and tennis courts and had a way of welcoming people into her heart and life that few people have.
Mrs. Clarkson is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Ripley “Westy” Westmoreland Clarkson, and her sister-in-law, Harriet Jones Wylie.
She is survived by her son Wylie Westmoreland Clarkson, Esq., his wife, Andrea McElveen Clarkson, their daughter, Caroline Pendleton Clarkson, of Columbia, SC; and her son Blair Childs Clarkson and his husband Matthew Kendall Runkle, of Acton, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. William Lindsay Wylie, II, of Greenville, S.C., as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A private family ceremony will be held at First United Methodist Church Cemetery. The service will be live streamed and can be viewed under the service tab of Elinor's page at www.popefuneralhomesc.com.
