Eleanor Patrick Alison, widow of James Hampton Alison, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2019 after a short illness. Born May 21, 1923 in White Oak, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Harris Patrick, Sr. and Elizabeth “Bessie” Johnston Patrick. Eleanor is predeceased by all her siblings: James Harris Patrick, Jr., John Christopher Patrick, Thomas Johnston Patrick, Elizabeth Patrick Smith, Robert Alexander Patrick, and David McDowell Patrick; and by one nephew. She is survived by six nieces and four nephews.
Mrs. Alison was a graduate of Blackstock High School, Asheville College, and Florida State University. Eleanor started her career in the Chester County School System. She was a beloved business teacher and even served as a president of the SC Education Association for Business Education. She finished her career in Chester as an Administrative Assistant.
After her marriage, she and her husband resided in Atlanta, Georgia for many years and returned to her home in White Oak in 1983. Eleanor was very active in her church and immersed herself in civic responsibilities. She also enjoyed the bridge club with some of her many friends. Being a wonderful cook, loving aunt, and Christian friend, she will be missed by many. In God’s loving presence, may she rest in peace.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at White Oak ARP Church, White Oak, SC at 2 o’clock with burial immediately following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church fellowship hall.
