Boyd “Bitsy” Allison Milling, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Joseph Wearing and Eleanor Sease Milling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jo Ellen Milling; son, Boyd Milling, Jr. (Christine); daughter, Allison Milling Livingston (Tripp); brothers, Joseph “Tinka” Wearing Milling, Jr. (Sonny) and James “Jim” Sease Milling (Gaye); mother-in-law Thelma Glover; sisters-in-law Sarah “Wally” Milling and Deborah Ogilvie, and two grandchildren, Luke Milling and Hart Livingston.
In addition to his parents, Bitsy is predeceased by his younger brother and best friend, Bobby Milling.
Bitsy earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Erskine College in 1972 and spent his career in heavy equipment sales in the Columbia area. He enjoyed reconnecting with college friends and proudly supporting the newly formed Flying Fleet football team. Bitsy also enjoyed golfing and fishing with livelong friends in Ridgeway, and spending summer vacations at Edisto Beach with family. He never met a stranger and was known to be warm, funny, and kind. Bitsy thought his greatest accomplishments were his two children and he found the greatest joy in his two grandsons.
Bitsy was a member of Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a faithful servant of the Lord who loved his church family and enjoyed serving alongside them.
Having been the recipient of a life-saving liver transplant 21 years ago, he truly respected the generous gift offered through organ donation and encouraged others to become donors.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Dean Reynolds. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church, 14605 State Highway 34 E., Ridgeway , SC 29130 or Epworth Children’s Home, PO Box 50466 Columbia, SC 29250.
