Bill D Bittinger

Bill David Bittinger, 94 years old, of Winnsboro, SC passed away on December 2, 2002.

Born October 10th, 1928 in Grady, Arkansas, Bill graduated Grady High School in 1946. He went on to serve in The United States Army as an Artillery Sergeant from 1950 to 1952. Bill graduated from the University of Nebraska obtaining a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1957. He worked most of his career with Celanese Fibers (Texas and Virginia) and Uniroyal Tire Company (South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia) as a Plant Manager and Engineering Manager. Bill was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro, SC and a Rotarian. Bill’s lifelong hobby was woodworking.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, David A. and Alta Green Bittinger as well as his late wife, Margery Ann Bittinger and his son, Harold David Bittinger and son-in-law, Bill McPherson. In addition, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Jean B. Dafford and his brothers, Danny Lee Bittinger, Larry Green Bittinger and Jonny Mac Bittinger.

Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley Padgett Bittinger as well as his daughter Kay Ellen McPherson, his son, Paul James Bittinger (Rebecca), and daughter-in-law Sandy Bittinger as well as Shirley’s son Dale Ackerson (Belinda). Bill had four grandchildren; Erin Leigh McPherson, Joshua Hawke McPherson, Sally Jane McGrath and Shelby Ann Bruning as well as step-grand daughters Jennifer Michelle Daniel and Sarah Elizabeth Keefe. Bill is survived by six great-children, one step- great grand child and more on the way.

Funeral services will be held December 6, 2022 at First Methodist Church Winnsboro SC with Visitation at 1pm and services at 2pm, followed by a short grave side service. Pope Funeral Home, Winnsboro, SC is handing burial arrangements. Memorials can be donations direct to First Methodist Church in Winnsboro or through Pope Funeral Home
