Mrs. Ann Stevenson Dixon, 88, widow of Dr. Woodward Rion Dixon, Sr. died peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2019. Born in Winnsboro, SC she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee Stevenson, Sr. and Annie Amanda Stone Stevenson.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville, SC. She attended Winthrop College and then graduated from the Baptist Hospital of Columbia as a registered nurse. Mrs. Dixon and her husband were medical missionaries in Central America and Mexico for eight years, then moved to Haiti to build a hospital where she trained nurses for three years.
Surviving are her sister Erleen Stevenson Bankhead of Blackstock; her five children,
Locke Dixon Barkley, Dr. Woodward Rion Dixon, Jr. and wife Mary, Heath Phillips Dixon and wife Caroline, Osmund Bailey Dixon and wife Kim, Julia Dixon Boatwright and husband Steve; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ann is predeceased by three sisters, Minnie Lee Stevenson Montgomery, Marguerite Stevenson Kelly, and Marie Stevenson Burley; and three brothers, Edward Lee Stevenson, Jr., Marion Stone Stevenson, and Jacob Coleman Stevenson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, 8002 Newberry Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the burial in the church fellowship hall.
