William "Bill" Woodrow Marthers, Jr.

William “Bill” W. Marthers, Jr., 71 of Winnsboro, passed away at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness on February 18,2018.  Born on January 6, 1947 in Winnsboro to the late William W. and Lorena B. Marthers.  

Bill was a loving and kind husband, Daddy, Papa, brother and uncle.  His hobby was his family.  He took great pleasure in telling a joke or playing a joke.

He was a member of the Free Masons, Winnsboro Lodge 11 and the Fairfield Jaycees.  Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winnsboro. 

He worked at Barber Coleman and Honeywell. Before his retirement he worked at C&C Boiler of Columbia, SC.

Bill is survived by his wife Wanda Grice Marthers, two sons, Mike Marthers of Winnsboro and Brandon Marthers of Iowa.  He is survived by his brother Stephen B. Marthers of Winnsboro, sisters Claudette G. Rhodes of Cape Coral, Florida and Nancy L. Sides (John) of Chapin, Mother-in-Law, Norma Grice and Sister-in-Law, Teresa Grice -Ginn.  He has two grandsons Justin of Hawaii, Brandon of Iowa, two granddaughters Brantley of Oklahoma and Amberlyn of Winnsboro, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.  

He was predeceased by granddaughter, Peyton and 2 great grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 23, 2018 at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Hudson Street, Ext, in Winnsboro conducted by Reverend Craig Bailey.  The family will receive friends after the memorial by the graveside.
