Virginia "Ginny" Eldridge Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” Arnette Eldridge died peacefully at her home in Tampa, FL, on Saturday, February 17, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Winnsboro, SC on January 17, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Edward Mobley and Sarah Wylie Arnette. Ginny attended Richard Winn Academy and graduated in 1980. She continued her education at the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC, earning her RN in 1983.

She began her nursing career in Winnsboro at Fairfield Memorial Hospital and in May 1986 moved to Tampa, FL where she began working at Tampa General Hospital. In early 1989, she returned to Winnsboro to care for her mother during the final months of her life. She was inspired by the excellent care that her mother received from the nurses providing home health. When she returned to Tampa, she began working as an oncology home health nurse.

Ginny is survived by her husband of 25 years, Richard, and their two daughters, Kathleen (Katie), a senior at Florida Southern College, and Michelle of St Louis, MO. Other survivors include her brothers, Ned Arnette and Bratton Arnette (Sissy Few) of Winnsboro, and sisters, Toni Estes (the late Billy) of Winnsboro, Caroline McRae (Lane) of Darlington, SC, and Fran Lusk (Dale) of Florence, SC. Her many nieces and nephews include Amanda Hannon, Sarah Enslin, Ashley Wilson, Sally Hawkins, Carrie Lusk, Sarah Ann Lusk, Frances Arnette, and Wyatt Few. Grand-nieces and nephews include, Marshall and Samantha Hannon, Grace Enslin, Sawyer, Witt, Bailey, Owen, and Sidney Wilson, and Caroline and Adalynn Hawkins.

Ginny was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a dedicated medical professional who cared deeply for her patients. She never met anyone that she could not charm with her wit and sense of fun. Though far from her Winnsboro roots for most of her life, she maintained many deep and abiding friendships through the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Blair, SC, on Saturday, April 7, at 2:00pm with visitation following the service in the Fellowship Hall. The Reverend Greg Neely, a family friend and pastor of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, SC, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Relay for Life via the following link: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/KatieEldridgeFSC.
