Richard McMaster Sprott

Richard McMaster Sprott of Winnsboro, S.C., died Thursday, December 21, 2017. Born October 12, 1947, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Nelle McMaster Sprott.

He  graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and Tri-County Technical College, and served in the South Carolina National Guard.  

Richard loved to farm and collect and tinker with tractors, with particular fondness for antique Farmalls. He loved retirement, and delighted in spending time at his home in Saluda, N.C.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam Center Sprott, his children, Marion Center (Amanda) Sprott-Goldson and Hall McMaster Sprott (Raleigh) West; granddaughter, Elliott Scott West; grandson, Hugh Mayfield West; brother, William Thomas (Jeanne) Sprott, Jr.; nephew, William Richard Sprott, a whole host of relatives, friends, and his canine companion, Sue.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2 pm at Bethel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church; visitation with the family will follow at the Sprott home, 206 Bratton St., Winnsboro, S.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The Lord Berkeley Conservation Trust, 223 E. Main St, Suite B, Moncks Corner, S.C.
