Please accept our condolences during this time of distress. While it is indeed sad that you are mourning the loss of your dear Nicholas, it saddens God more. In the days ahead, you will reflect on his seemingly small, yet precious memories. This is natural when we experience the loss of someone loved. However, take confidence in knowing that just as you have memories, almighty God remembers too. The difference is, God can and will restore perfect life to those in His memory as expressed in the faith strengthening video **

Melinda and all Nick's family:
I learned from Xenia Ann of Nick's recent greater health difficulties and of his demise Thursday. I had understood Nick had serious health problems but also that he was a fighter and gained time in life with his will, effort and treatment. HIs situation reminds me of the observation by Gilder Radner, herself a victim of a Black Swan in life, "I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.”
Take care Melinda. May within these hours and days of sorrow your memories of happier times together and of future times of mindfulness mitigate the grief you and your family share at this time proximate to Nick’s death.

My Dear Sweet Sister,
You have spent 19 of your 32 years with Nick, carving out a life together while battling one of the most horrible illnesses a person and his family can endure. I watched Nick transform over those years from just a regular guy, into one of the kindest and most thoughtful and humble men I have ever known. I believe with all my heart that you being by his side, caring, loving, sharing your faith helped him on his journey to make that transformation. He learned to drop the ugly shackles we as humans bind ourselves within. He went to heaven with a sweet, newly cleaned spirit. He went humbly before the throne and I feel so strongly heaven welcomed him home. Nick has gone from one extreme to the other. Now, only peace, overwhelming love, and paradise. You two have been beyond strong, your battle as a couple was heroic. And I sincerely mean every word. God gave you a great challenge, but what incredible strength he gave, too. Keep the faith, Sissy. He is always with you. God is everywhere. And He will meet our needs. I didn't mean to preach. I just love you all so much and share what little I know. God bless you all!

Amelia and I are heartbroken at the news of Nick's passing. We are comforted by the knowledge that he is finally able to rest peacefully. Over the 17+ years that I have known your family, both you and Nick have consistently demonstrated strength, love, humor and tremendous perseverance in the most understated and graceful way. The impact of your journey on my life cannot possibly be expressed by words. I feel extremely fortunate to have known Nick. I want you to know what a tremendous person you are and that your family has made an indelible impact on me as a man, husband and father. May God grant you all the blessings of peace and comfort during this difficult time. We are here for you in whatever manner you may need.
