Lillian Drummond Powell, born in St. Charles, Lee County, South Carolina on August 27, 1921, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, in The Woodlands, Texas.
Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late William Lecil Drummond and Ruth Wilson Drummond of Jenkinsville, and the widow of the late Palmer Edward Powell Sr. of Fairfield County. She is predeceased by two sisters, Lecil Drummond Cushman of Aiken and May Rhodes Drummond Davis of Columbia; and two brothers, William E. Drummond of Columbia and Henry G. Drummond of Greenville.
A woman of great leadership in her faith, Lillian Powell was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Winnsboro for more than 70 years. A wife and mother of the highest devotion, she is survived by two sons, P. Edward (Elsa) Powell Jr. of Bethesda, Maryland, and Richard Justin (Esther) Powell of The Woodlands, Texas; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Powell, Emily Anne Powell, Shannon Rose Powell, and Justin Wang Powell. A woman with many friends in many places, she has now left happy memories throughout our country and the world.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Pope Funeral Home. The funeral service will occur at Bethel United Methodist Church in Winnsboro, South Carolina on Friday, March 16 at 11 AM. Burial will occur afterward at Greenbrier United Methodist Church Cemetery in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Pallbearers will be Warren Powell, Michael Powell, Ken Powell, Smythe Rich, Gordon Drummond, and Daniel Timms Jr.
