John Clowney Cathcart, Sr.

A service to celebrate the life of John C. Cathcart, Sr., 82, will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 2:00 Pm at First Baptist Church of Winnboro conducted by Reverend Craig Bailey.  Burial will follow in Bethel ARP Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church. 

Mr. Cathcart passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018.  Born in Winnsboro on May 1, 1936, he was the son of the late A. M. Cathcart and Ruth M. Cathcart. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice W. Cathcart; son, John C. Cathcart, Jr. (Julie) of Rock Hill, SC and Christopher A. Cathcart (Robin) of Irmo, SC; daughter, Sarah E. “Beth” Griffin of Indian Land, SC; sister, Tina Cunningham (Bobby) of Winnsboro; and five grandchildren, Jacob, Austin, and Kylie Cathcart, and Bailey and Kendall Griffin.

In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by sisters, Martha Newman, Ruth Powell, Mary Evelyn Shirley, Catherine Cathcart, Ann Burch, Dorothy Cherry, Patty Baughman, Emma Lou Cathcart; and brother, Mel Cathcart, Jr. 

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.  A hard worker all his life, he liked nothing more than to be outside riding his tractor and taking care of his cows. He was a life long member of First Baptist Church of Winnsboro and the Joe Jolly Sunday School Class. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Winnsboro First Baptist Church, 1373 Newberry Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180.
