Jerome Milton Mincey, 75, of Winnsboro passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Born in Florence, he was the son of the late Thomas Mincey and Christine Waters Mincey.
Papa as he was affectionately known, was a high school sports official for 35 years, officiating mostly football and baseball games. Papa also enjoyed testing his grilling skills for many years at the Ridgeway BBQ festivals. He loved the food and spending time with his culinary friends. But, Papa’s favorite past time, by far was attending car shows across the southeast. Many fun memories were made, but more importantly, lasting friendships were made with people he met along the way. He was a member of the 1958 and 1959 Mt. Zion state championship football teams.
He spent 35 years as the traffic control manager at Manhattan Shirt Company.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Beverly A. Mincey; son, Brad Mincey (Renee); daughter, Tammy Martin (Kyle); four grandchildren, Colby M. Strickland (Tommy), Cooper Martin, Ashlyn Mincey, and Alexis Mincey; and one great grandson, Reece Strickland.
In addition to his parents, Jerome is predeceased a brother, Charles Mincey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Am Monday, April 29, 2019 at Lebanon Presbyterian Church conducted by Reverend Shane Martin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church fellowship hall.
