George Benjamin Brazell, Jr., 78, of Winnsboro passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.  Born in West Columbia on February 14, 1940, he was the son of the late George Benjamin and Goldie Graham Brazell, Sr. 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lane Matuse Brazell; four sons, Ben Brazell, III (Kathy), Kevin Brazell, Casey Brazell, and Kyle Brazell (Lindsay); two daughters, Kim Plemmons (Roy) and Michelle Northup (Syd); one brother, Bill Brazell; two sisters, Betty Klein (Phil) and Gail Ellis (Jerry); eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. 

In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by a daughter, Keri Brazell.

George was the Owner/Operator of The Mortgage Centre in Winnsboro. He was an avid supporter and fan of Gamecock athletics. He loved Fairfield County and served his community as a member of the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce, the Zoning and Planning Commission, Winnsboro Town Council and Mayor Pro Tem, as a retired volunteer firefighter, and in various other capacities.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, October 8, 2018 at Stephen Greene Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Kyle Brazell and Reverend Ethan Brown.  Burial will follow in Stephen Greene Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in George’s memory to the Humane Society,121 Humane Lane Columbia, SC 29209 or to your local animal shelter.
