Funeral services for William Moultrie Truesdale, Sr., age 84, will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 3:00 P.M., at First Church of the Nazarene, conducted by Reverend Jeremiah Blackburn. Burial will follow in Royal Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 1, at Pope Funeral Home.
Mr. Truesdale died on February 28. Born on June 23, 1927, in Kershaw County, he was the son of the late Elmer Lenora Truesdale and Nannie Loretta Ives Truesdale. He retired from Uniroyal in 1987, where he had worked for 41 years.
Mr. Truesdale loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bettie Margaret Rutland Truesdale; children, Margaret Kurtz (Ed), of Asheville, NC, Bill Truesdale (Susan) of Graham, NC, Sheila Sharpe (Pat) of Lexington, Rhonda Johnson (Jamie) of Newberry and Darryl Truesdale (Melinda) of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Amy Hodges (Rich), Jason Truesdale (Kelly), Jessica Busby, (Denis), Wendy Dye (Will), Tyler Johnson, Sam Johnson, Brandon Scott Truesdale, and Samantha Blake Truesdale; great-grandchildren, Ashley Bowen, Ethan, Eric and Eli Truesdale, Sean Dye; step-great-grand-daughter Miranda Dye; and sister, Vera Howard (Frank) of Monroe, NC.
Mr. Truesdale was predeceased by parents and siblings Thornewell Truesdale, Rosa Lee Medlin, Herbert Truesdale, Raymond Truesdale, Elmer Truesdale, Elizabeth Truesdale, Mary Croxton, and granddaughter Elizabeth (Liza) Ives Johnson.
The family suggests memorials be made to Agape Senior Hospice, 805 Buff St., West Columbia, SC 29169.
