Martha Smith Porter

Martha Smith Porter, 91, of Winnsboro began her life of celebration in Christ on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.  Born in Chester on August 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late JD and Eula Mae McCullom Smith.

Martha was a member of Stephen Greene Baptist Church and worked for many years with her husband, James “Roy” Porter, Sr. as Co-owner of Superior Gas Company, Inc. 

She is survived by her four children, Jean Carter (Billy), James R. “Jimmy” Porter, Jr., Jerry Porter, and Judy Bozard (Bob); ten grandchildren, Caroline Carter-Montgomery (Will), Keith Carter (Lauren), Troy Porter (Meigs), Tyler Porter (Kristen), Daniel Porter (Rachel), Rob Bozard, Patrick Bozard, Branden Bozard (Samantha), Heather Morris (Brandon), Amanda Crisp (James); fourteen great grandchildren, Alexis Montgomery, Waylon Carter, John Rollins Porter, Hogan Porter, and Stella Porter, Liam Porter, Annabelle Bozard, Dylan Bozard, Phoenix Bozard, Oliver Bozard, Hayden Hair, Ezra Hair, Blayne Morris, Brennen Crisp, and Lorelei Crisp; two special ones on the way who will miss the joys of their great maw-maw, and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Martha is predeceased by a daughter, Jane Gaddy; brother, James Smith; and grandson, Baby Carter. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2024, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Winnsboro.  Service will be conducted by Reverend Ethan Brown.  The family will receive friends after the service by the graveside. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stephen Greene Baptist Church.
