Vernon Leroy Hudson, Sr.

Mr. Vernon Leroy Hudson Sr, 76, of Winnsboro passed away peacefully on April 27, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland surrounded by his loving family.

Vernon was born June 25, 1939 in Winnsboro SC to the late Admiral Dewey Hudson Jr and Ruby Hall Hudson. Vernon proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He also spent many of his working years as an insurance salesman and eventually retired from Kennecott Gold Mine in Ridgeway, SC.

Vernon was married to Frances Truesdale Hudson, their union was for fifty three joyous years. Together the two had three children; daughter Audrey Lucas of Winnsboro, SC, Dawn McDonald of Lugoff, SC and Vernon Hudson JR of Winnsboro. Vernon also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Additionally, Vernon has two sisters of Winnsboro; Norma Peake and Robin Summer and a host of nephews and nieces.

Vernon is loved very much and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Pope Funeral Home with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
