Owen Matthew Moore

A memorial service for Owen Matthew Moore will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Winnsboro, SC, conducted by the Reverend Harry Varn.  Burial will be private.  Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 650 Ninth Street, Winnsboro, SC 29180.

Mr. Moore died on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at his home.  Son of Leah J. Brown, he was born on August 27, 1969, in Winnsboro, SC.  He graduated with honors from Winnsboro High School where he was taking college courses during his senior year.  He attended the University of West Virginia in Beckley and learned the way of the hills, but his heart was always at home in South Carolina.

His dreams were abruptly ended when he fell victim to a boating accident which left him with painful physical problems as well as epilepsy.  Even though he suffered terribly, he found outlets in his appreciation of nature and in his love of animals and music; most of all, in music.  His sense of humor was direct and offered an insight to situations usually not recognized by most people until those insights were pointed out.

Of Matthew, his mother said, “His was a world of love and desperation shared equally.  His life is one I will greatly miss.  I am so grateful God gave him to me to love because he showed me so many things.”
