Mrs. Eleanor Sease Milling, 97, of Ridgeway. died on Tuesday, January 16, in her home. Born in Columbia on December 15, 1920, She was the daughter of Bryan Thomas Sease and Hattie Koon Sease. She graduated from Columbia High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, and she attended Louisiana State University until her studies were interrupted by WWII. She later completed her education graduating cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a Masters in English. She taught English for many years at Blaney High School and Winnsboro High School from which she retired. She was an excellent teacher who was loved and admired by her students. After retirement, Eleanor and her dear friend Sara Faucett enjoyed travelling, making a number of trips both in the U.S. and abroad.

She was a member of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgeway since 1947, and served in many capacities at the local level, and in later years on the Diocesan Board of the Episcopal Church of Upper South Carolina. While temporarily living in New Orleans, she served on the Altar Guild of Christ Church Cathedral with her friend Violette Kotch.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Sease Terry of Columbia.

She was a loving mother and is survived by four sons: Joseph Wearing Milling, III, (Sunny) of Fort Worth, James Sease Milling (Gaye), Boyd Allison Milling (Jo), and Robert Bryan Milling (Wally) all of Ridgeway. She also leaves 12 Grandchildren and 18 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church conducted by Reverend Mark Werner and Reverend C. Christopher Clements.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-7:00 pm at Pope Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 307 Longtown Road, Ridgeway, SC 29130.
