Funeral services for Edith Evelyn Broome Lyles, 94, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Greenbrier United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend Brian Ogburn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

 
Mrs. Lyles died at home on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Daughter of Durham Arthur Broome and Annie Bell Boney Broome, she was born May 15, 1921 in Blythewood, SC.  A graduate of Greenbrier High School, Mrs. Lyles attended Draughon’s Business College and worked at Fort Jackson during World War II while her husband Carl, was stationed in England.  She later worked and retired from Fairfield County Veterans Affairs. She was a member of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church Winnsboro.

Mrs. Lyles is survived by son, James D. Lyles; daughters, Carlie Ann Lyles Thomas, Mary Elizabeth Lyles Ogburn (Brian), and Margaret Lyles Blair (Dudley); grandchildren, Laura Ann Thomas, Dawn Thomas Broadway, James Quay Thomas, Meredyth Lyles Harden (Smith), Andrea Lyles, Earl Ogburn (Dana), Caroline Ogburn Beamer (Matt); great-grandchildren, Amanda Broadway and James Hawk Ogburn.

She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Carl Grady Lyles and brothers, Foster and Dargan Broome.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Winnsboro, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, PO Box 59, Winnsboro, SC 29180.

 

The family gives special thanks to the Kershaw Health Hospice Staff, to Janice Smith and Debbie Branham for their loving care, support, and prayers.  She loved each of you dearly for blessing her life.
