Chandler Elizabeth Hamby

Ms. Chandler Elizabeth Hamby, 18, of Blythewood, went home to her LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, after a long battle with brain cancer.  Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of Gregg Coleman and Amy Colcock Hamby. 

In addition to her parents, Chandler is survived by four brothers, Morgan, Mason, Miles, and Matthew Hamby; paternal grandparents, Morgan and Marla Hamby; and maternal grandparents, Charles and Hazel Colcock. 

Chandler loved reading and was a prolific writer.  She was a graduate of the Belhaven University High Scholars program. Chandler was active in her church, as well as the Institute for Cultural Communicators, where she served on the National Student Leader Council.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 19, 2018 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, PCA, 3100 Covenant Road, Columbia, SC conducted by Pastor Seth Yi.  Burial will follow in Aimwell Cemetery, Ridgeway, SC.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Chandler’s memory to Georgia Health Science Foundation, Pediatric Immunotherapy Program, 1120 15th Street Fl 1000, Augusta, GA 30912.
