Carmen Simoneaux Garrett

Carmen “Gigi” Simoneaux Garrett, 62, of Ridgeway, SC passed away July 16, 2017 in Columbia, SC under the care of In-patient Hospice at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at Village Church on July 22, 2017 at 11:00 am.  Visitation with the family will be immediately following in the church.

Gigi was born to Leonard and Joy Simoneaux on October 17, 1954 and raised in Fort Mill, SC.  She was a graduate of Fort Mill High School Class of 1972.  That is also where she met and married her high school sweetheart Billy E. Garrett. They were married for 44 years. 

Through the years she was heavily involved in the Republican Party, the Department of Education and then with Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina.  The one constant in her career was her love for helping people and making everyone laugh.  She had an infectious smile that made any and everyone feel welcomed.  

She and Billy raised 2 daughters in the slow country living of Blythewood, SC.  From their daughters, they reaped their rewards and have 4 wonderful grandchildren.

Gigi enjoyed volunteering at Village Church and spending time watching her grandsons play baseball.  Recently she and Billy started to enjoy the life of camping in their RV. 

Gigi is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Joy Simoneaux.

Gigi is survived by her husband Billy, daughters Ashley (Ash) Wilson of Ridgeway, SC, Jessica (David) Lancaster of Columbia, SC and 4 grandchildren; Brian “PJ”  Wilson, Austin Lancaster, Rob Wilson and her little princess Evelyn Grace Lancaster; and her sister Devota Vereen (Terry) of Caswell Beach, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Village Church, 574 Rimer Pond Road, Blythewood, SC 29016.
